Essentials 24" Towel Bar 4.3 5 6 7

good finish but .... good shine finish but the bar is not deep enough. when you hang the towels, a little bit tough to hang; also lower part of towels will tough the wall after hanging. May 27, 2011

thin bar, close to wall As much as I love the sleek lines of this Grohe towel bar, It is really only useful for a handtowel or washcloth. I installed two in my bath to replace two older style bars and unfortunately found that this product is not appropriate for a bath towel because it rides so close to the wall. I have to fold my bath towel in half and gently slide it behind the bar to hang my towel. What a pain. Also, it has a very thin bar -- someone grabbed the bar for support (not even very hard) and now while the support ends are unaffected, the bar itself looks a little wonky. I'm going to look for a deeper matching towel bar and replace one of these in my bath. Hopefully Grohe makes a big sister version of this bar! March 19, 2011

Are any parts plastic?

The Grohe 40 366 is made of solid metal with no plastic parts. Hope this helps.

Can the bar be cut and then fit into the end pieces to accomodate a smaller space but bigger than the 12 inches?

The Grohe 40 366 can physically be cut, yes. But it is not recommended as physically altering the item will void it's warranty.

Can the length of the bar be shortened?

The Grohe 40 366 is a fixed length of 24

can this be attached to a shower door?

The Grohe 40 366 can be monted to a shower door, as long as the door has been modified to properly support. But not recommended by the manufacturer.

Does the bar screw into the two side pieces of slide in place. In other words would I be able to cut the bar shorter and still assemble the towel bar?

The Grohe 40 366 is assembled by screwing the bar into the brackets. Try the Danze model D446412 in the 18" for a similar look. Any alterations to the product will null all warranty

How far does this project from the wall, and how far is the space between the wall and the inside of the bar?

The Grohe 40 366 projects 4" from the wall & the bar is about 2.36" from the wall. Hope this helps!

Is the towel bar made of brass and what diameter is it?

The Grohe 40 366 is an alloy that is more heavy duty than aluminum but is not fully brass. It has a diameter of 1/2".

The Grohe 40 366 towel bart is a perfect fit. I need an additional towel bar that is compatible with Grohe 40 366 but that has an overall width of no more than 16". I have looked in the Essentials series but can't find a towel rack that small.

grohe does not have less the 16" towel bar in this series. hasgrohe sells a 12" towel bar 40513 that might work well for you.

How deep and wide is this towel bar? The specification sheet has little informaiton on it.

The Grohe 40 366 has an overall width of 26.375" and it projects 2 5/8" out from the wall.

The Grohe 40 366 is 24" in overall width. I would not mount it on a door if the door is not made of a solid wood material.

The Grohe 40 366 is not designed to be used as a grab bar in a shower and it is not recommended to be used that way.
